TELANGANA HERITAGE

Golconda fort:


  • Located in the western part of Hyderabad.
  • 4.8 km length and 120 m. height.
  • Built in the year 1143  by rajahs of Warangal/kakatiyas.
  • Earlier occupied by bahumanis then kuthubshahis then asaf jahs.
  • Originally known as MANKAL.
  • It has 4 draw bridges and 8 gateways.
  • Outer enclosure is known as Fateh darwaja. Aurangajeb’s army marched through this darwaja.

Salarjung museum:
  • 3rd largest in india.
  • All items that are in the museum were collected by salarjung III/ yusuf ali khan,prime minister of Hyderabad state.
  • Initially exhibited in diwan deodi palace.





Qutubshahi tombs:


  • One of the largest masjids in india. 10 thousand people can perform prayers at a time.
  • Parsian-hindu style.
  • Total 7 tombs are there except of abul hasan tanishah. 

Macca masjid:


  • Located in south west to Charminar.
  • Construction started by kuli kuthub shah and completed by aurangajeb
  • One of the largest masjids in india. 10 thousand people can perform prayers at a time.

Charmina:


  • Mir momin astharabadi played a key role in the design of Charminar.
  • Good example of indo-islamic architecture. And, some Persian shades are also there.
  • Also know as arc de trainphe of the east. 
  • 149 circular steps are there to climb the top.
  • In 1889, four clocks were added to the four sides  of the Charminar.





Choumahallah palace:


  • Literally choumahallah means four palaces.
  • Construction started by salabath jung and later completed by afjal-ud-dhoula.
  • It is the replica of shah’s palace of Tehran(Iran)
  • Four palaces are – 1.tahaniyat  2. Mahtab  3. Afjal mahal  4. Mahthab mahal.

Hussain sagar:


  • Constructed by hazrath Hussain shahwali, duringh the period of Ibrahim qutubshah.
  • Largest manmade lake in Hyderabad.
  • Constructed on eesi, a small tributary of musi river.
